Will S.H.E.A.T. carry out risk assessments for me?

We can carry out risk assessments for businesses, or we can provide training for management and employees, to enable them to carry out risk assessments etc.  It must be pointed out, the risk assessments are the employer’s responsibility and must be undertaken by a competent person. 

Clients who retain S.H.E.A.T. as safety consultants can use our consultancy as their competent person, risk assessments provided will be tailored to your businesses particular circumstances and processes.  If your business decides to have their own employees trained to carry out risk assessments, S.H.E.A.T. consultants can carry out a review of the risk assessments, to ensure they are suitable and sufficient.

Will my insurance costs be reduced?

Can I pass my entire health and safety responsibilities to S.H.E.A.T.?

No!  We will work with your business to ensure that all the appropriate Health and safety steps are implemented to ensure that risks within the business are removed or reduced, and that the business complies fully with its legal duties.  However, the ultimately responsibility for providing a safe work environment for employees and complying with safety legislation is yours.

How often will S.H.E.A.T. visit my premises?

As often as your business needs require.  This can be on: -

A monthly basis;

A quarterly basis;

Two or three times a year; or

More regularly if required.  

It all depends on the specific business requirements.

Can S.H.E.A.T. audit of our premises?

Yes!  We can provide a complete Safety Audit of your business.

Any Safety Audit which is carried out will include the following areas and procedures: -

Physical inspection of the premises, including an assessment of risks from both the workplace and the processes which are carried out;

Fire risk assessment, where required;

Complete review of the emergency procedures etc. and signage of the company;

Review of all mandatory and recommended health and safety training requirements;

Review and discussion of the management structure and responsibilities for health and safety within the company;

Review of the businesses health and safety resources;

Close out meeting which will involve Senior Management;

Full written report.

Does anything need to be specially prepared for the audit?

No!  Simply provide our consultant with copies of ALL Relevant safety paperwork.

If I receive a visit from the Enforcing Authorities etc. what do I do?

If your business is contacted with regard to a health and safety issue, you should immediately contact us and inform us of any implications or notifications, so that we can discuss and agree what steps may need to be taken.

However, with the documentation provided by S.H.E.A.T., and if our advice is followed, and a commitment to health and safety is made by the company to ensure that risks to health and safety are addressed fully, it will be highly unlikely to receive a visit from the Enforcing Authorities, or that they will be unsatisfied with your business.

What if an accident happens involving one of our employees?

Inform S.H.E.A.T. immediately, as certain categories of accidents are required to be notified to the Enforcing Authority and we can help with this.

Businesses have a legal duty to ensure all accidents, especially serious incidents, are investigate properly.  We can assist your business with accident investigations, therefore you should talk to us straight away, so that this can be arranged quickly.
